We are a Church that believes in Jesus & loves God & people
We are a church that believes in Jesus, a church that loves God and people. Overwhelmed by the gift of salvation we have found in Jesus, we have a heart for authentic worship, are passionate about the local church, and are on a mission to see God’s kingdom established across the earth.

Our History
The First Baptist Church of Leesville was established in 1898 when much of Vernon Parish was scarcely more than a wilderness and the Town of Leesville little more than a place to attend court. The first church established in Leesville was called the Community Church. Meetings of various denominations were held in this church building.
Twelve good Baptists decided they needed their own church, and on September 6, 1898, the First Baptist Church of Leesville, Louisiana, was formed. Rev. S.C. Self was called as the first Pastor. The first building was a former schoolhouse, and arrangements were made for the school to share the space during the week, with church services on Sunday.
As the church continued to grow, it was necessary to consider building a new church. In September of 1901, the Lee Street church building was completed at a cost of $3,198.50, including furnishings.
The church continued its growth, and by 1940, the membership was 709. In May 1943, the congregation moved into a third building constructed at a cost of $80,060.00.
The 40s were marked by a great increase in evangelism. Bro. E.E. Fields was called as Pastor in 1940, and by 1949 when he resigned, FBC had established five new churches in Vernon Parish. It wasn’t until 1976 that another mission church was established under the leadership of Rev. Wallace Palmer.
On February 19, 1969, our members moved into the fourth church building, our present location.
Of course, a church is not defined by a physical building but by its dedicated members who have committed themselves to sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ and winning the lost to Christ. We are grateful to those faithful charter members who acted on faith 125 years ago to make our present-day ministry possible.
To those future members of our church family, may they be ever faithful to the Living God as First Baptist Church continues to prosper in Christ’s name.
